Hot Water System Installation

Sunshine Coast Heat Pump Hot Water System Plumbers

Install an Energy-efficient Hot Water System for Greater Savings

If you need an efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly hot water system, BCJ Plumbing’s expert knowledge of the latest heat pump technology and years of hands-on heat pump hot water system installation experience ensures long-term savings on energy bills together with reliable, consistent hot water for years to come.

Unlike traditional water heaters that generate heat directly, heat pumps transfer heat from the surrounding environment to the water, significantly reducing energy consumption. The system consists of a heat pump unit and a water storage tank, is environmentally friendly, and can reduce your energy bills substantially.

Heat pump hot water systems are particularly effective in warm climates where there is an abundance of ambient heat to draw from, making them the perfect hot water solution for Sunshine Coast home owners.

Understanding the Heat Pump Hot Water Process

A heat pump hot water system works by transferring heat from the surrounding environment into the water using a refrigeration cycle similar to that of an air conditioner or refrigerator. The process begins when a fan draws in ambient air across an evaporator containing a refrigerant. This refrigerant has a very low boiling point, so even mild heat from the air causes it to evaporate into a gas. The gas is then compressed by a compressor, which significantly increases its temperature.

This hot, high-pressure gas flows through a condenser coil wrapped around or inside the water tank, where it transfers heat into the water. As the gas releases heat, it cools and condenses back into a liquid. It then passes through an expansion valve, dropping in pressure and temperature before returning to the evaporator to repeat the cycle. Because the system moves heat rather than generating it directly, it uses far less electricity than traditional electric water heaters, making it highly efficient and cost-effective.

The Benefits of Heat Pump Hot Water Systems

Eco Power

Heat pump hot water systems use renewable energy from the surrounding air, lowering your environmental impact and significantly reducing electricity consumption to lower your electricity bills.

Smart Vacation

The smart vacation mode allows the system to automatically reduce energy use while you’re away, preventing unnecessary heating for further savings on power bills.

Smart Boost

Smart boost functionality provides an extra burst of heating when demand is high, ensuring you’ll always have enough hot water during peak usage times.

Low Noise

Designed with quiet operation technology, heat pump units run with minimal noise, making them suitable for installation near living and sleeping areas without causing disturbance.

High Efficiency

By transferring heat rather than generating it, heat pump systems achieve far greater efficiency than traditional electric heaters, leading to substantial long-term energy savings.

Frost Proof

Frost-proof features protect the system on cold mornings by preventing components from freezing, ensuring reliable operation even in low temperatures.

Anti-freeze

The built-in anti-freeze protection automatically activates in cold conditions to safeguard the refrigerant cycle and maintain consistent performance.

Overheat Proof

Overheat protection monitors water temperature and prevents the system from exceeding safe limits, ensuring user safety and extending the lifespan of the unit.

How Energy Efficient Are Heat Pump Hot Water Systems?

Heat pump hot water systems are one of the most energy efficient water heating options available. They can use 60 to 75% less electricity than conventional electric hot water systems. They also use up to 70 to 80% less electricity than instantaneous electric systems. During low sun periods, they can even be more efficient than solar hot water systems.

Why Heat Pumps Save So Much

Heat pumps generally achieve a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of between 3 and 5 or higher, meaning they produce 3 to 5 (or more) units of heat energy for every 1 unit of electricity consumed. Traditional electric systems have a COP of 1, so they generate only one unit of heat per unit of electricity.
